Airport Terminology
A list of words, phrases, and names we use at the airport
- AFSC - acronym for Armed Forces Service Center; Similar to a USO
- TSA - Transportation Safety Association; The government agency that scans passengers
- USO - we do NOT have a USO at MSP airport. Instead we have the Armed Forces Service Center
- Arrivals - the level of the airport where arriving passengers are reunited with their luggage and family. It has been called Baggage Claim in the past. This is level 1.
- Departures - the level of the airport where passengers check in, drop their luggage, and enter the secure area of the through a TSA security checkpoint.
